Countries with the largest number of executions
Despite the secrete record of death executions in some countries, China is predicted to be the world’s largest executer, according to Amnesty International estimates released on April 11.
Vietnam came in the fourth place during the 2013-2016 period, following Iran and Saudi Arabia.
By region, Asia remained the highest, as 11 of the 23 countries where executions took place last year were Asian.
2016, the number of executions worldwide fell to 1,032, down from a record high
of 1,634 executions in 2015, where Benin and Nauru lifted the death penalty.
