Euro area annual CPI confirms 1.9% rise in April

Euro area annual inflation confirmed a 1.9 percent rise in April, according to the final consumer price index released on Wednesday.

CPI for the year through April showed 1.9 percent rise, moving in line with both preliminary and expected readings.

Annual core recorded 1.2 percent, unrevised from the preliminary reading.

As of 11:00 GMT, the euro extended its gains versus the U.S. dollar at 1.1105, resuming its rally since hitting a bottom of 1.0838 on May 11.
